You forgot the sneakers…

I was at the gym, going through the motions…

I should grab a few groceries on the way home…
3 reps, four, five…
No, skip the groceries, tackle the work to-do list first, groceries later…
seven, eight…
UGH this is heavy…
nine, ten…
YOU FORGOT TO TELL HER ABOUT THE SNEAKERS.

Shoot. He was right. I did forget to tell my morning reading about the sneakers. Particularly white sneakers. They may have had a bit of black on them, but not much…they looked like…

Old school Reeboks…OK…I’ll email her first thing when I get home.

I finish the workout and start driving home.

I’m starving, what should I eat when I get home…hmm…
Oh look, something shiny! ADD on point today…
I’ll heat up those leftovers then finish that work thing then…
SNEAKERS!!
Oh yeah, right, sneaker email, then work thing.

When I forget something important, Spirit doesn’t let up. It’s a contract I made when I started doing this work. If I forget something or if I misrepresent something that left the sitter feeling not-so-great, or I got something really wrong, Spirit is welcome to bug me until I get it right.

I get home, pop open my email and start writing…

“Hey there! Remember I said I may be in touch after our reading if I forgot something? Well, your friend let me know I forgot to mention the white sneakers. There’s something important about footwear…”

OMG, NOT FOOTWEAR, “KICKS”

This guy rolled his eyes at me and gave me his best exasperated stance. I could tell he was thoroughly annoyed with this game of charades, and me. I laughed because I get it, I never liked charades growing up either, and yet here we are, forced to be a charades team of strangers for your loved one.

You’re stuck with me buddy, let’s get it right…

“There’s something special about these kicks, and they look like old school Reeboks, white with just a little bit of black striping...”

DUDE, NOT REEBOKS, GAH! <shows me a very specific shoe with three stripes on the side, I know these shoes, but I forget the brand>

Cue google to the rescue as I type in ‘old school white shoes with stripes’.

Ahh, right, Adidas. OK, got it.

I finished the email and went about my day. A few hours later I received this response:
”Thank you for his message regarding my "kicks". When we hung up, I went to get dressed and was being really indecisive about the shoes I was going to wear to meet his aunt. I went with a pair of white adidas with white stripes. I can't imagine that was a coincidence. Thank you for this gift.”

She’s right, that’s no coincidence. Spirit is always with us, helping us and supporting us through our day-to-day activities, no matter how small. While this particular spirit would have preferred I remembered to tell her to wear the white Adidas ahead of time, it was just as magical for her to realize he’d been with her all day and even helped her choose her shoes when she was feeling anxious about meeting with his Aunt.

Please don’t ever doubt. They’re here with us, always, and especially when we call them. Feel it, know it, believe and trust. Your team has your back with pure love, support and guidance at all times. Even if you need help choosing the right footwear (ha!).
