Sit on down sweetie pie…

Sprit sometimes presents themselves in a scene from their former life. They do their best to portray their personality and life force in the way their loved ones remember them.

Recently a petite firecracker of a woman sat down at her metal-legged kitchen table and lit a skinny ciggarette. She took a long drag and started telling me all about her ‘good-for-nothin’!’ kin, her health troubles and her love for her grandson, while smoke streamed from her lips as she spoke.

She told her husband, who was also there, to ‘stop interruptin’!’ an’ let her handle this!’. This outspoken force of a woman was incredible to connect with, a real ‘hoot!’ and came through with the sweetest validations, deep love and appreciation for the sitter, and even claiming (a little) credit for a few things in her life.

These are my favorite kind of reunions, the ones where I feel like I’m right there, welcomed into their home, into their ‘kinship’, as a dear friend. I run out of words to adequately describe what an honor it is to translate for your loved ones on the other side. It’s a sacred calling I don’t take lightly and am forever grateful to be asked to do this divine work.
